Saratoga Vertical Railing – Alta Vista

Project Components

Project Overview

This Saratoga craftsman home has a tiled second-floor deck that wraps around the back of the house above the patio, shaded by old trees. The owners wanted a railing that suited the white trim and the traditional lines of the house.

We built our VRK vertical railing system around the deck: 2×2 inch square aluminum posts fastened to the top of the deck with 3/4 inch square aluminum pickets, powder coated white, under an Ipe hardwood top rail.

White pickets match the trim so the railing looks like it has always been part of the house, and the warm hardwood cap gives a comfortable place to lean. Powder coated aluminum will not rust or need repainting the way a wood railing does.

Like all of our railing, this system was designed, fabricated and installed by our own crew, and built to meet California code.
