Like most website operators, Bay Area Railings collects non-personally-identifying information of the sort that web browsers and servers typically make available, such as the browser type, language preference, referring site, and the date and time of each visitor request. Bay Area Railings’ purpose in collecting non-personally identifying information is to better understand how Bay Area Railings’s visitors use its website. From time to time, Bay Area Railings may release non-personally-identifying information in the aggregate, e.g., by publishing a report on trends in the usage of its website.
Bay Area Railings only discloses logged in user and commenter IP addresses under the same circumstances that it uses and discloses personally-identifying information as described below.
We advertise on Google and on Meta (Facebook and Instagram). Those companies may set cookies when you visit our website so that we can measure our ads and show them to people who have visited us. What they collect, and how to opt out, is explained below under “Services we use on this website” and “Your privacy choices”.
Our Service may contain links to external sites that are not operated by us. If you click on a third party link, you will be directed to that third party’s site. We strongly advise you to review the Privacy Policy and terms and conditions of every site you visit.
We have no control over, and assume no responsibility for the content, privacy policies or practices of any third party sites, products or services.
When you fill out our Request a Quote form, use one of our price calculators, chat with us through the chat bubble, or call or text us, we collect what you give us: your name, email address, phone number, city, the kind of railing you are interested in, your budget, and your message. We use it to answer you, prepare a quote, schedule work, and keep a record of your project.
With a form or calculator submission we also record how you reached our site: the advertising click identifier (Google’s gclid, gbraid or wbraid) if you arrived from a Google ad, the campaign tags on the first page you landed on (the ad’s source, campaign, ad group, keyword and ad: utm_source, utm_medium, utm_campaign, utm_content, utm_term, creative), the address of that first page, the name of the website that sent you, if any, the addresses of the pages of our site you viewed before contacting us (up to the last 15), and the anonymous identifier Google Analytics gave your browser. When you press our “Call or text us” button we record the same information, plus the time you opened each of those pages and the kind of device and browser you are using (for example, iPhone Safari), so we can tell how a caller found us. We use this to know which of our advertising and which pages of our site produce customers. If you have opted out of ad tracking (see below), we do not record the ad click identifier.
Google Analytics (Google LLC) tells us how visitors use the site: pages viewed, time on page, the device and browser, the general location derived from your IP address, and how you arrived. It uses cookies such as _ga. See how Google uses information from sites that use its services.
Google Ads and Google Tag Manager (Google LLC) tell us when someone who clicked one of our ads later asks for a quote, so we can measure and improve our ads. They use cookies such as _gcl_aw, and Google may use them to show you ads on other sites.
Meta Pixel (Meta Platforms, Inc., owner of Facebook and Instagram) records page views and form submissions on our site, from your browser and from our server, so we can measure our Facebook and Instagram ads and show ads to people who have visited us. It uses cookies such as _fbp. See Meta’s privacy policy.
GoHighLevel / LeadConnector (HighLevel, Inc.) runs our chat bubble and receives our website form and calculator submissions into our customer records. It stores your messages and contact details, and the chat may remember the page and link you arrived from. We use it to reply to you by email, phone call, or text message.
SiteGround hosts this website and keeps standard server logs (IP address, browser, pages requested) for security and to keep the site running.
We may share your name, email address, phone number and ZIP code with Google and Meta so they can match you to your account on their platforms. We do this to measure our advertising (including telling Google when someone who clicked one of our ads becomes a customer, and the value of the job), to show you our ads or keep them from showing to existing customers, and to reach people similar to our customers. Your details are converted to an unreadable code (hashed) before they are sent, and Google and Meta process them on our behalf. Under California law this may count as “sharing” for cross-context behavioral advertising. To be left out, use “Do Not Sell or Share My Personal Information” below or email sales@bayarearailings.com with “Do not share”, and we will remove you from every list we send.
If you give us your mobile number, we may text you about your quote, appointment or project. Message and data rates may apply. Reply STOP to stop receiving texts, or HELP for help. We do not sell or share your mobile number or your consent to receive texts with anyone for their own marketing.
A cookie is a small file a website stores in your browser. We use cookies that are needed for the site to work, cookies for analytics (to understand how the site is used), and cookies for advertising (to measure our ads on Google and Meta and to show our ads to people who have visited us). You can also block or delete cookies in your browser settings; parts of the site, such as the chat, may not work without them.
We do not sell your personal information for money. Letting Google and Meta collect information on our site for advertising may count as “selling” or “sharing” personal information for cross-context behavioral advertising under California law. You can opt out of that at any time:
Opting out turns off Google’s and Meta’s advertising tracking in this browser on this device. It is saved in a cookie, so if you clear your cookies or use another browser, opt out again there. We still use Google Analytics to measure how the site is used, without advertising cookies.
The button above covers this browser. To also be left out of customer lists we send to Google and Meta, email sales@bayarearailings.com and we will remove you.
Global Privacy Control. If your browser or a browser extension sends the Global Privacy Control (GPC) signal, we treat it as a request to opt out of selling and sharing, and we apply it automatically for that browser.
If you are a California resident, you have the right to:
In the last 12 months we collected these categories of personal information through this website and from our customer records: identifiers (name, email, phone number, ZIP code, IP address, cookie and advertising identifiers); internet activity (pages viewed and how you interact with the site and our ads); general location; and the details you give us about your project. We disclosed identifiers (including name, email, phone number and ZIP code from our customer records) and internet activity to Google and Meta for advertising and analytics, and all categories to the service providers named above so they can run services for us. We keep customer and project records for as long as needed for the project, warranty, and tax and legal requirements, and delete website form data we no longer need.
To make a request, email sales@bayarearailings.com or call (510) 621-9050. We will confirm your request and answer within 45 days. We may need to confirm your identity by matching information you give us with what we hold. You may use an authorized agent; we may ask for proof that the agent may act for you.
This website is not directed to children under 16, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them.
