Project Overview
The balconies, terraces and deck edges at this Mill Valley home all look out over the bay towards San Francisco. With that much glazing on the house itself, a railing with posts would have read as a fence in front of every window.
We ran our base shoe glass system across all the exterior railings – a continuous aluminium shoe surface-mounted along each deck edge, carrying tempered glass with a slim cap rail. No posts means nothing interrupts the run, so each balcony reads as a single sheet of glass.
This is one of three railing systems on the property. The base shoe handles the balconies and terraces, spigots carry the infinity pool barrier, and the interior stair uses stand off pins – three systems, one consistent visual language.
