Project Overview
Perched above Richardson’s Bay, the Burgess residence features multiple elevated decks at varying heights, each needing a railing solution that preserves the sweeping water and landscape views, while handling exposure to marine air and salt spray. For such a setting, a cable railing system was the clear choice. It gives minimal visual obstruction, keeps the lines clean and modern, and emphasizes the scenery over the structure itself.
We engineered and installed our ThinLine cable railing system using marine-grade 316L stainless-steel cables, known for their strength, corrosion resistance, and longevity. The 6061 aluminum posts with dark-bronze powder coat complement the coastal aesthetic while ensuring structural stability. Because of this material selection and careful installation, the railing stands up to weather, salt air, and regular use with minimal maintenance.
Working closely with the homeowner, general contractor, and engineer on record, we coordinated deck framing and blocking to ensure the system exceeds load and safety requirements under relevant California / Marin County / Sausalito codes. The result is a cable railing installation that’s as robust as it is elegant, a secure, long-lasting railing built to match the property’s demanding coastal environment and high design standards.
