Project Overview
This Napa cable railing runs along a hillside deck looking out over open vineyard to the valley floor. The view is the entire reason the deck exists, so the railing had to hold the line without appearing in it.
We installed our ThinLine cable railing system – 1/8 inch 316L marine grade stainless steel cable tensioned horizontally between 2×2 inch square aluminum posts, under a 3×1 top rail, in dark bronze powder coat. Bronze sits with the dry grass and oak far better than black would.
Cable railing is the right choice above a vineyard. From the deck the horizontal cables read as fine lines against the rows below, and with no solid infill there is nothing to interrupt the airflow or collect the dust that comes with harvest.
