## Project Overview

The deck at the Whitecliff residence is a wide, open entertaining space set among mature oaks and redwoods in Walnut Creek. The design challenge here was not the view – it was privacy. The deck sits close enough to the neighbouring property that a fully transparent railing would have left the space feeling exposed.

We installed our ViewLine glass railing system using frosted, satin-finish tempered glass panels secured by square black powder-coated posts, a slim matching top rail and exterior-grade glass clamps. The frosted surface blocks sightlines at both seated and standing height while still passing daylight through, so the deck keeps its bright, open character instead of feeling walled in.

The result is a railing that does two jobs at once: it meets code as a railing along both the deck edge and the stair run, and it turns an exposed platform into a private outdoor room. The black hardware picks up the dark window frames of the house, and tempered glass keeps maintenance close to zero on a deck used year-round.
