Project Overview
This Novato property sits directly on the lagoon, with a deck, a seawall and a private dock all facing open water. The view runs the full width of the lot, so the railing had to hold the line without cutting the water into panels.
We installed a surface mount base shoe glass railing system using a Q-railing base shoe, fixed along the top of the deck and seawall edge. The continuous shoe carries the glass with no posts at all, finished with a slim aluminum top rail that gives you something solid to lean on at the water edge.
Waterfront work is hard on hardware, so everything here is specified for a marine environment. Glass is the one infill that salt air and constant damp cannot corrode or stain, and with no posts breaking the run the deck, the lawn, the seawall and the dock read as one continuous space out to the water.
