Project Overview
This Los Altos vertical railing runs along the raised decks and balconies of a white stucco home set among mature oaks. The owners wanted a classic vertical picket line rather than cable or glass, to sit with the traditional lines of the house.
We fascia mounted our VRK vertical railing system – three quarter inch square aluminum verticals set between 2×2 inch square aluminum posts under a 3×1 top rail, all in matte black powder coat. Fascia mounting keeps the posts off the deck surface, so the full width of each balcony stays usable.
Powder coated aluminum gives the look of traditional wrought iron without the rust or the repainting. The same property also carries a cable railing section on its lower decks – vertical where the railing is seen up close against the house, cable where the run is long and the view through the oaks matters more.
